Another theory notes that FE, LI and NA are the respective chemical symbols for iron, lithium and sodium, or blood, meth and tears. That’s true, but more relevant is its reference to the character Feleena from the Marty Robbins song El Paso, which features in the episode. Star Trek: Deep Space Nine – in the 4 th edition of Star Trek Encyclopaedia, it’s noted that Morn, the almost silent Lurian courier with a joke reputation for garrulousness who’s a fixture at Quark’s bar, is named as an anagram of Norm, the barfly character played by George Wendt in Cheers.īreaking Bad – when the episode title for Breaking Bad’s last ever episode Felina was released, many were quick to notice it was an anagram of ‘finale’. ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() There will be a Good Intentions 4, but as I’m only sorta started on it now I have no projections for when it’ll be done. I’m hoping to have this out sometime in March, but maybe April depending on how all that goes.Īs for Good Intentions, I have a few chapters written for the next installment. Then it’s time for revisions, edits, etc. Cover art is in the works and I’ve only got a couple of chapters to go. Now for a story which “raises questions about the theory and nature of knowledge.” An elephant “hears a faint noise coming from a small speck of dust it seems to him like a tiny person is calling out for help.” He “finds it peculiar that a dust speck could speak so he reasons that there must be a very small creature on it. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() In the process, King refashions old stories about historical events and figures, takes a sideways look at film and pop culture, relates his own complex experiences with activism, and articulates a deep and revolutionary understanding of the cumulative effects of ever-shifting laws and treaties on Native peoples and lands. Rich with dark and light, pain and magic, this book distills the insights gleaned from that meditation, weaving the curiously circular tale of the relationship between non-Natives and Natives in the centuries since the two first encountered each other. The Inconvenient Indian is at once a “history” and the complete subversion of a history–in short, a critical and personal meditation that the remarkable Thomas King has conducted over the past 50 years about what it means to be “Indian” in North America. ![]() You can read this before The Inconvenient Indian: A Curious Account of Native People in North America PDF EPUB full Download at the bottom. We see, in the novel, a society where sexual objectification and exploitation of women is part of the routine. Even though Sidhwa has created empowered female characters in Cracking India and has given to the story a female perspective from Lenny’s point of view, she has also shown to the reader the reality lived by women in India. Bapsi Sidhwa’s novel Cracking India, which has garnered considerable attention as a trenchant portrayal of the violence surrounding the Partition, can profitably be explored as an examination of such violence, for it depicts a broad cross-section of Lahore society, both before and after the city became a part of Pakistan. In the months immediately preceding and following the creation of “free” nation-states, untold numbers of murders, kidnappings, rapes and arsons were committed by ordinary citizens of all the major religious groups (Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs) caught up in the turmoil. ![]() The 1947 Partition of British India into two independent nations (India and Pakistan) was accompanied by communal violence unspeakable in its brutality and ferocity. ![]() ![]() ![]() Also, King's interest in twins is going to be very important as we enter book 5. These books have minor connections to the main series. ![]() Some other books I'd strongly recommend reading at this point (that aren't quite as vital) are "Desperation" and "The Regulators." These are twin novels that were published simultaneously, the former under King's name and the latter under King's pseudonym, Richard Bachman. One of the characters in " Hearts of Atlantis," published by King in 1999, will also turn out to be important down the line. And while you've got the collection in your hands, you should also read the titular story "Everything Eventual" in the collection as well, because that also features connections to the Dark Tower universe. "The Little Sister of Eluria" is a novella written in 1998, most easily found in King's collection "Everything Eventual." It's another flashback story, but its events take place after the big flashback of "Wizard and Glass." You don't technically need to read this book to understand everything afterward, but it certainly helps. ![]() ![]() I made some pretty nifty looking pie charts in Excel (you can just pretend they are totally awesome).
